Library Skills

Library

Librarians meet with each class on a weekly basis, from kindergarten through 5th grade, working closely with teachers to weave library skills into all curriculum areas. Seasonal and classic literature is frequently used to supplement the curricular program. In addition, flannel board stories, creative dramatics, and puppetry enliven our program. Students in the upper grades meet in the library as a part of their regularly scheduled classes, and in this context, they're taught to use specific books and reference. The foundation of the upper class library skills program is the research process, embodied by the process of task definition, information-seeking strategies, source location and access, use of information, synthesis, and evaluation.
